April 18 Open House to view streetscape greening plans for Bloor between Bathurst and Spadina

What: Community open house and drop-in for the Bloor Street sidewalk resurfacing and streetscaping project

When: Monday, April 18, 2016, from 4 - 8 p.m.

Where: Markham House, 610 Markham Street

Who: Members of the Bloor Annex BIA, Councillor Joe Cressy, and City staff invite the public - you! - to review detailed plans and learn more about the streetscape improvements that will be taking place in 2018.

Why is this dandy? (Hint: More bike parking!)

The project will include the following:

  • Replacement of existing curb and damaged sidewalks.
  • Installation of four side street parkettes. These new landscape treatments include seating, trees, plantings, bike rings, and public art on Howland Avenue, Brunswick Avenue, Major Street and Robert Street. The parkettes will be constructed by City-approved contractors and maintained by the Bloor Annex BIA.
  • Replacement of 35 raised tree planters with new in-ground trees protected by metal tree guards
  • Installation of additional bike parking and accessibility improvements
