Thursday July 23 Art Spin will present their second bicycle art tour of the 2015 summer season.
On July 23, 2015, Art Spin will be heading east for the second bicycle tour of the season. This tour will be the greenest yet, featuring plenty of outdoor sites and finishing in a lush garden in the Don Valley. Join the tour as it follows the river, crossing over and under bridges to witness a contemporary dance piece choreographed by Amanda Acorn , as well as a performance in a meadow, an exciting interactive projection piece by Studio F Minus and more. This tour wraps up at Todmorden Mills thanks to Art Spin's partnership with No. 9’s EcoArtFest where the tour will spend the rest of the night under the stars surrounded by their ecogarden and complete with musical performances, refreshments, public sculpture and a warm fire. Be sure to come prepared for a night in the outdoors, bring a warmer layer, bug repellant and your bike lights.
The tour meets in a small parkette along the Keating Channel, 2 Villiers Street (Just east of Cherry St. and south of the Lakeshore) at 6:30 p.m. , tour leaves at 7 p.m. sharp. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance on Art Spin's www.artspin.ca website until 12 p.m. the day of the event. A limited number of cash tickets can be purchased at 6:30 in the park on a first come,first served basis. Art Spin, founded in 2009, is a series of unique bicycle tours of art in Toronto. The tours see hundred of participants cycling together, to visit specially commissioned, multidisciplinary works in alternative spaces, many of which remain a surprise until the group arrives. The works featured include a variety of mediums from art performances to site specific installations, music, dance, and theatre. These works are always presented in unique alternative spaces be it an alleyway, garage, schoolyard, parking lot, warehouse, church etc. In addition to monthly summer bike tours, Art Spin curates and mounts group exhibitions in alternative industrial spaces.
Currently the Art Spin team is made up of cocurators Rui Pimenta and Layne Hinton.
