As part of Sweet Pete's Sweet Speak series, the bike shop recently hosted a Liv Ladies' night at their Bloordale location.
Liv is a sub-brand from Giant that designs bikes specifically for women. They sell everything from cruisers to elite triathlon bikes, as well as apparel and accessories.
The Liv Ladies' night featured guest speakers Kristen Courtney and Paolina Allan, who are both professional riders. Courtney specializes mostly in cross country, mountain and downhill cycling and spoke about how she got into biking, how she juggles a day job (she is also a lawyer, journalist and cycling activist) with racing, as well as off season training. Allan, who is a competitive triathlete, spoke about how cycling gave her the confidence to quit her job and to start her own business and how she has easily been able to keep racing into her 40s.
Later in the night, Liv representative Nica Novlesky ran a Fit, Form, Function clinic. Attendees learned about the importance of a properly fitting bike, as well as which bike to choose to best suit your riding needs.
Attendees also had the opportunity to win several Liv prizes, such as clothing and accessories. Sweet Pete's even gave away a RETUL Bike Fit valued at $300.
