Flashback Friday: Blessing bicycles past and present

Shown above is Reverend Stephen Anad blessing a bicycle at Mt. Carmel Church on July 28, 1929.

This photo is from the City of Toronto Archives, Globe and Mail fonds, Fonds 1266, Item 17454.

We are fortunate to have a similar modern-day ritual in the city. The 5th annual Blessing of the Bikes in Toronto is happening this Sunday, April 27, at Trinity St. Paul's United Church from noon to 1 p.m.

All are welcome! And remember: polluting is a sin.
