Come celebrate the start of summer and bike season at the Distillery District this weekend. This Saturday June 23, MEC is hosting their annual BikeFest event there to help you get ready for the warm biking days ahead.
It’s not just a chance to show off some great bikey goods and services. MEC is always excited about the chance to build up good biking spirit, and had some thoughts on the community the event is part of.
“MEC Bikefest is a day-long celebration of bicycles and all things bicycle related. It’s a day when riders of all types can come together and expand their bike knowledge. We want people to think of bikes as more than just two wheels. We want people to think of bikes as an affordable and accessible form of transportation. We want people to think of bikes as an environmentally friendly and health-smart decision. We want people to think of bikes as a way of really getting to know your community. But most importantly, we want people to think of bikes as fun.”
So come Saturday June 23 to the MEC Bikefest at Toronto’s Distillery District from 11am – 5:30pm. There are activities for cyclists of all ages and abilities, bike valet parking (provided by Cycle Toronto), as well as free basic repairs and safety checks, bike clinics and seminars (hosted by MEC, Urbane Cyclist and Hardwood Ski & Bike), MEC bike and gear swap, and booths and information for bike retailers and cyclicing advocacy groups.
Go to the MEC Bikefest Toronto page on MEC’s website to download the event schedule, course descriptions, and register online for workshops and clinics.
